Kitchens & Bathrooms: What to look for in a new home

November 10, 2011

We've all heard that kitchens and bathrooms sell homes. That is why at First Choice Home Builders we use only the best materials. Starting with the cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms, we use only custom-made wood cabinets, with built in upgrades like Lazy Susans in corner cabinets, pull-out spice racks, custom crown molding and custom granite countertops. You DON'T want prebuilt cabinets out of the box that are made out of cardboard or particle board with faux wood vinyl overlay made to look like wood grain. First Choice Home Builders also use Delta Victorian faucets throughout our homes made of metal with brilliant finishes like oil rubbed bronze and brushed nickel. Before buying a home make sure the faucets are not plastic with a faux metal finish that will not last and fail prematurely. All First Choice Homes choice homes use Pex water lines . With slab foundation the most common problem is water lines breaking in slabs due to settling or cracks in the slab that cause the pipe in the concrete to fail. This results in plumbers having to come into your home pull up your flooring and jack-hammer up the concrete to try to locate the leaks and repair it, at great expense to home owners. That is why at First Choice we have no water lines in the slab. We pay more to keep all water lines in the walls where theses issue do not come into play later in the life of your new homes. Before buying a new home, check out the difference in materials used and think about how the product will look in a year or more. Look at not only the appearance but how they are made and what are they made of to insure that they are not going to have to be replaced in a few years due to swelling from water contact.
